New wood-stove for school in Bosnia
New wood stove for school in Bosnië
Late January 2011 Tom Visser, operating for the section Technics of Rensa, has travelled to Bosnia to visit one of the recent projects of Stichting Warmte voor de Kinderen.
Goal of the trip was the installation of a new wood stove of 250 kW in a primary school in Boljanic. Tom is projectcoördinator Warmte voor de Kinderen and tells enthousiastically about his experiences: “It looked marvelous. The whole kettle-house had been renovated, even the chimney. The conciërge had stirred up the stove and the school was filled with a nice and cosy temperature. Outside a layer of snow of about 30 to 40 cm!”
The installation of the stove was just in time, because the old one was just to fall down unrepairebly. As no help from the ministerium is to be expected, it seemed for a while that the classrooms had to be heated by individual little stoves! Fortunately this has been prevented by the help of Stichting Warmte voor de Kinderen voorkomen!
All stakeholders of the school in Boljanic were very gratefull, expressed by a variety of recitals of the children and speeches of teachers and management.
The installation of the woord-stove is an enormous step forward for the school. Nevertheless the circumstances are not ideal. In one section of the school there is still no heating. Four major rooms, two offices and a hall. “It would be great to install another wood-stove of about 100 kW and to place the needed radiators”, Tom Visser explaines. “We really hope to finish this project in the near-future”.
